Hi fish friends,

I hope everyone has been able to take some time off and rest from a stressful year. I’m looking forward to a fresh start in the New Year!

Here at Sereia Films we’ve been working to create more digital resources and are excited to continue that work in 2021. Be on the lookout for Ebooks featuring clams, oysters, tilapia, and catfish in 2021. For our upcoming film shoots – we’re shifting gears a bit away from highlighting restaurants, and will be focusing more on seafood producers and chefs.

We’re also excited to explore bridges around Miami with the help of our new Trident ROV’s we received from grant through the Wildlife Conservation Society. And we’ll be getting into the classrooms more through our collaboration with Slow Food Miami and the Slow Fish program. This next year is sure to be a fishy one and, fingers-crossed, we hope we can get together for some hands on events later in the year. As always, thank you for your continued support – we couldn’t do it without you!

Today I want to share a video of an interview I conducted with Scott Zimmerman from Safe Quality Seafood Associates this past Summer as part of our “Fish Talk” series. The style of these videos are podcast-like and may move in that direction in the future. This is the third of the Fish Talk series, so please subscribe to us on Youtube, to be informed of new videos. I met Scott in 2013 while working on the film Raising Shrimp, so it was great to catch up with him on what’s changed in the seafood industry – and what hasn’t – since we met.

Best fishes,

Sarah Curry, Founder Sereia Films

We’re in the process of updating our website, so check in with us at sereiafilms.org in the New Year to see the updates. We’ve been working on resources for teachers to accompany the videos we are creating and we’d love for them to be used in the digital classroom. Send teachers our way if you know of folks interested in fisheries curriculum.
