Dear fish friends,

It’s that time of year! This Thursday is Give Miami Day, which launches us into giving season. But, this year, early giving starts today. We have a goal of raising $10,000 – to further our seafood education work. We can’t do the work we do without your support. Be on the lookout for a reminder email on Thursday. In that email we’ll also be sharing the trailer for our next episode, featuring a recirculating pompano farm. It’s a cool story. We’d love if you could help us swim towards our goal and donate today!

As as newsletter subscriber, you get a sneak peek at content before it’s officially published. We hope you can take a few minutes to check our our most recent video (that’s not quite final) featuring a young Italian Chef who cooks the heart, liver, and sperm of the fish – while thinking about the role culture plays in our consumption habits. He also cooks up a ballyhoo, (yes, the bait fish) and serves it three ways. It was delicious. Would you be up for eating the bait? Please let us know what you think. And once it’s final – we’d love if you could help us share it. We’re excited to showcase this educational piece within the culinary community and beyond.

Biscayne Bay boat tour this Sunday with local historian and Bea Brickell

Join us for our first daytime tour (10am – Noon) as we explore Miami’s history from a different perspective. Local Historian Cesar Beccera will take highlights from his new book Orange Blossom: 2.0, which features women who have impacted Miami. We’ll have special guest Bea Brickell onboard to speak a bit as well. It will be a lovely morning to celebrate Biscayne Bay. (Bea Brickell is the great granddaughter of Mary and William Brickell.) He’ll be selling his books on the tour and $10 of the $30 will be generously donated to Sereia!
